Wunderkammer of Truth
GUM (Ghent University Museum) / March 2024
Designed by scenographer Roel Van Berckelaer and brought to life in collaboration with Onbetaalbaar_gent, we have reinterpreted existing construction plans that were intended for wooden constructions into designs suitable for cardboard panels.
To preserve the original idea and simulate the charm of old museum showcases, we opted for naturally colored Re-board panels, natural cork and redwood finishes.

Layout of the room
An innovative and environmentally friendly approach has been chosen for the design of an exhibition space in a museum. The space is divided into several rooms by means of dividing walls, which also have doors and windows.
These elements, including extensive paneling along large parts of the walls, are made entirely of Re-board cardboard.
Details and finishing
The windows are finished with slats and natural cork, which gives a warm and aesthetic appearance. These cork accents have also been incorporated into the paneling, creating a coherent whole throughout the exhibition space.
For an interactive experience, provision has been made in some parts of the windows to attach screens and headphones, allowing visitors to experience multimedia content as they navigate through the different rooms.
Buildup
The layout of the room, including the dividing walls and windows and walls are made up of pillars connected by 2 panels. These form the basic structure of the layout.
At a later stage the top pieces were placed to connect all the parts together.
We have installed paneling for the lower parts of the walls, also finished with cork details.
